Distance Education Programs

For more than 100 years, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M has served the education needs of the people of Texas with high quality accredited degree programs in numerous areas of study. Our distance education courses, taught by the same faculty who teach on campus in College Station, make the following programs available worldwide.

At this time, Texas A&M University offers only graduate degree programs by distance education. Our professional degree plans typically consist of thirty-six semester credit hours, or approximately 12 courses (some are variable credit).  Many students take two courses per semester in fall, spring, and summer while working full-time, and complete the program in two or three years. As with most graduate degree plans, there is a certain amount of flexibility, particularly in the elective and support courses you choose.

To enroll in graduate courses at Texas A&M, you must be be accepted into a Texas A&M University graduate degree program as a graduate student (G7),or classified as a post-baccalaureate, non-degree seeking student (G6). Guest students who wish to transfer classes to another institution should be admitted in the G6 category. Discuss your background with a professor or academic advisor before you apply for admission.

Admission to any graduate program at Texas A&M University is based upon the entire record of the applicant and availability of departmental resources.  The university requires that each applicant hold a four-year baccalaureate degree or higher from a college or university of recognized standing.  Applicants from Non-English speaking countries must also present a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 213 computer based or an International English Language Testing System Test (IELTS) score of at least 6.0.  A graduate admissions committee within the department reviews the application, transcripts, GPR in the last 60 hours of coursework, three letters of recommendation with corresponding recommendation form, resume, and professional and/or academic experience.  Please see admissions.tamu.edu, or the current TAMU Graduate Catalog for more information.
